Lampwork: Brooklyn Glass

I know, I know!! I could win an award for procrastination when it comes to my blog. I'll dedicate more time to it, I promise. For those of you who don't know, I'm taking a lampwork class at Urban Glass in Brooklyn and let me tell you: I am officially addicted. Tuesday's are the new Fridays for me because I get to go to class and create intricate beads and I'm constantly learning something new.

I've worked on some striped and polka dot beads but I'm still struggling with clear coating. What usually happens is my temperature control is off and I end up blending all of my patterns together to get this marble effect. Sometimes when you make mistakes, you create something even more beautiful than you intended. Which is always a wonderful surprise!

Once our beautiful mistakes and our patterns are set, we place our beads into the vermiculite, which will cool the bead a bit before the beads get annealed (when your beads are places in a Kiln to slowly lower the temperature of the entire bead.

I'm working on a bunch of pieces that will be listed in my etsy shop within the next few days. So please check it out and let me know what you think. I'll be having a jewelry party in April so stay tuned for further details.

As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts so feel free to comment or email me.
Make it a great day!!

Look at me go!
Melting my dots...

...and Voila!!!

Dinner Party Clothes

This weekend I hosted a be-lasted birthday celebration for my cousin who's b-day is really on New Year's Eve. Because I can never keep anything too simple, I decided we should turn this simple dinner into a dinner party/NYE recap complete with the proper outfits and even a strobe light for Alexis' (the birthday gal) grand entrance. I love making the people I love feel extra special on their birthdays. My menu included mashed potatoes with shredded cheese, cream corn, chicken cutlet and corn bread with my girlfriend's extra special sauce. Pretty heavy indeed but that is Alexis' favorite meal so I wouldn't think of making anything else. We were all so hungry that I didn't get a chance to take a shot of the food but here's what we wore....
Sunday was round two of the dinner parties at another cousin's house. I toned it down with a bird print dress, wine tights and my favorite Modcloth shoes. With so much delicious food this weekend, we decided to start our own supper club. My favorite things together in one, family, good food, and fine wine. Who can say no to that? Not me!!!

ModeAmen Collaboration

Happy New Year everyone!! Last year I started my own line of vintage inspired jewelry-Vintage Trinket. It's going oh so well and I have you guys to thank for your constant support. This past weekend I collaborated with ModeAmen (an Uber-talented young lady who is just starting her own blog and tumbler--Look for her) and made a custom bib that I'm sure you will all beg for. So I'm putting it on my etsy shop vintagetrinket13.etsy.com this week. She gets all the credit for picking the fabric and satin ribbon. I just added the finishing touches/chains. Isn't it adorable? Perfect for those "boring shirt" days.
This year I'm starting my blog so I can share my trinket journey with you all. This blog is still under construction and is nowhere near complete so please be gentle, it's my first time!
Hope you are all having an amazing start to the new year and are doing something you absolutely love. Make it a great day!!!

Wire Wrapped Trinkets

Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a great start to the new year. I set some resolutions that I have not followed through with just yet. Partly because I started a new job and am studying for a very important test that will hopefully steer my career in a new direction. Office work is not nearly as rewarding as seeing one of my creations draped around a friends neck...but...in do time...The one thing I AM trying to follow through with is this little blog right here. I say little because I have yet to reach my very high standards as far as the design is concerned. There just aren't enough hours in the day. But I do have something to share with you all...This is the beginning of my wire wrapped collection, which is by far my favorite. What do you guys think??
I look forward to keeping you all up to date with the success of the Vintage Trinket shop!! Make it a great day!
